A MONASTERY, FINE WINES & OLIVE OIL
In the last 20 years Priorat wines have found their way to the top ratings of the world’s leading wine journals, and this excursion is a great opportunity to further your knowledge of these fine wines.
The day consists of exclusive wine tasting and visits in three DOQ Priorat wineries which includes a delicious lunch pairing menu, with local cuisine. In the afternoon, a stroll through the remains of Santa Maria d’Escaladei will allow us to get a glimpse of the hermetic lifestyle once led by those Carthusian monks who put the “prior” into “Priorat”. Following the steps of the Romans, they also reintroduced the local grape varieties into these glorious hills, where slate and sunshine come together to produce full-bodied wines.
To finalize the day, before heading back, we will stop at a small family run olive oil mill to taste their excellent DO Siurana olive oils.
