SOCIAL HOUSING SCHEME, Berlin 1993
(in collaboration with Engel & Zillich, architects; responsible for the design)
Inspired by the typical Bradenburg village layout, this social housing is arranged along two rows enclosing a peaceful green area which connects the existing cemetery to the fields beyond. Larger town villas with their respective flats are located near the main road responding to the scale of the neighboring houses.
There are 7 types of layout designs: the first 2 floors are maisonettes with flats above accessed by a gallery. Each dwelling has a winter garden, some with double height, creating an interesting rhythm along the continuous south facing glass facade.
